Try your hand at answering questions about insects and other arthropods during Bug-O-Rama, a quiz bowl-style event at the 2008 Red, White, and Blue Festival. Individuals or teams can ‘compete’ against each other trying to be the first to answer questions about the biology, natural history, and behavior of insects and other creepy crawlies. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team members or to individuals. A quiz bowl buzzer system (with lights and sound) is used during competition to add game show excitement and fun.
Bug-O-Rama is hosted by Dr. Eddie Dry, Assistant Professor of Biology at Arkansas State University - Mountain Home. Dr. Dry holds a Ph. D. in entomology from the University of Arkansas and participated in regional collegiate-level insect quiz bowls as a student.
The wonderful book Insect Appreciation by F. Tom Turpin will be used as a source for questions, though any book about insects written for general audiences would be fun reading and a great way to prepare for Bug-O-Rama! See you there!!
